Last Week In Lethbridge:

  • Lethbridge recently experienced significant snowfall, leading to the activation of main snow routes and highlighting ongoing challenges with snow removal. The introduction of a new snow route network generated frustration among residents, some of whom faced difficulties with lack of plowing, or with snow being plowed into their driveway. In response to these concerns, the City has launched a survey to gather feedback on the snow removal system's effectiveness and will host a Community Conversation event on April 25 at the ENMAX Centre. The survey is open until April 7th, and input can be provided online.

  • The City marked 2024 World Water Day by updating residents on ongoing water initiatives, including the final stages of the Water Conservation Plan and Strategy (WCPAS). This plan aims to address water scarcity issues through short and long-term strategies and will be presented to the Economic and Finance Standing Policy Committee on April 11th. Additionally, the City has launched “Water Wednesdays”, a weekly video series providing insights, tips, and expert analysis on water-related topics in southern Alberta, along with implementing a Water Meter Upgrade Program for approximately 10,000 households to improve data collection and billing accuracy.

  • The Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 inductees, including athletes Carmen Rinke and Brad Wall, builders Randy Bardock, the Cooney Family, and Michael Tamura, as well as special award recipient Judge John A. Jackson. Additionally, Kacie Bosch and Paige Crozon were named Kinsmen Sports Persons of the Year for their achievements in 3x3 basketball, along with Conner Cook for lacrosse. The induction ceremony will take place on May 3rd, 2024, at the Canadian Western Bank Lounge in the ENMAX Centre.
